Mind Money Balance is Anti-Racist

I talk all the time about aligning your spending with your values. If you ever doubt what my business Mind Money Balance and I stand for, let me be abundantly clear: I stand against racism and believe black lives matter.

Being a woman of color doesn't give me a pass to not do this work.

Living in a "liberal city" doesn't give me a pass to not do this work.

Voting and donating money toward progressive causes does not give me a pass to not do this work.

I know I will make mistakes and that it is my job to educate myself on the times I have held up a system that benefits white power. If you are a business owner and are wondering if its "on brand" or not to talk about this, you have some learning to do. If you are interested in deepening your relationship with money and haven't considered how redlining, being unbanked, and racism impacts the personal finance industry, you have some learning to do. If you are a mental health healer or clinician, and you haven't thought about the inherent racism that exists in the world of psychology and psychological theories, you have some learning to do.

No, it's not your fault that you didn't know better. But it is your responsibility to educate yourself and to be open to stumbling along the way.

At Mind Money Balance, I will be donating a portion of the business' proceeds quarterly to the following organizations: Circles of Washtenaw County and the Southern Poverty Law Center.

At Mind Money Balance, this is what we believe:

  • Black Lives Matter

  • Jewish Lives Matter

  • LGBTQIA Lives Matter

  • Trans Lives Matter

  • Asian Lives Matter

  • Science is Real—COVID is real—Masks help reduce the spread of the virus

  • Muslim Lives Matter

  • No human is illegal

  • Latinx Lives Matter
