20: Releasing Money Shame

Money shame impacts us all. Feeling bad about ourselves and our money makes it hard to trust ourselves and take action. In this episode, I share how my money shame has been showing up as a small business owner, what I'm committing to doing differently, and how to release money shame from your psyche.

I'm over it.

Over hiding, over doubting, over beating myself up.

Money shame impacts all of us. And I've been hiding mine because I felt like as a financial therapist, I should be the shining example of what to do (and what not to do).

But by hiding my money shame, I've become something else: a hypocrite.

A couple of years ago, I started listening to ALLLL the business podcasts and doing alllll the things these business coaches told me to do.

Including:

  • Pinterest

  • Facebook

  • YouTube

  • Email newsletters

  • Instagram

  • Podcasting

  • Twitter

  • LinkedIn

  • . . . and as I almost always forget, I wrote a book.

As I was listening and doing, something shifted.

I started doubting myself.

I started to believe that I did not know what was best for me or my business, but these business gurus did. I threw my money at them hand over fist. The more I veered away from my truth, my instincts, my beliefs, the worse my business became.

And in doing that, my money shame piled on. We know shame LOVES to hide out in the deepest depth of our minds, hearts, and guts.

In this episode, I share what money shame is, how it impacts us, my money shame story, and what I’m doing to release mine.

To that end, I've created a Money Shame Release Party for Womxn!! Allow me to help you say goodbye to the stories holding you back.

Here's how it works: I'll kick off the party by inviting everyone to introduce themselves. This helps to cultivate a sense of safety. Then, I'll offer some insight on *why* a full moon is the best time to let ish go that isn't serving you. I'll invite participants to journal on your money shame and share to release that shame and start moving toward healing.

Where: Zoom. This is a live session and will not be recorded or replayed to protect the privacy of all involved.

When: Monday, August 3, 6:30 pm EST

Cost: Register by clicking the link here. This is a pay-what-you-can session to make it accessible to most, pay between $47-97.
